We are a small animal practice in Swansea, first established in the 1950s. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open six days a week and have access to 24-hour emergency care. For your added convenience, there’s free parking for clients at our surgeries.
Louise studied veterinary science at Liverpool University, moving to Swansea after graduation in 1994. Experiencing two years in mixed practice, she decided to focus on small animal practice. After a few years working in West Australia, New Zealand and Cardigan, she settled back in Swansea in 2002. Louise was appointed Clinical Director of Tawe Veterinary Group in 2014 and is responsible for the running of the practice. In 2016, after three years of study, she completed a certificate in advanced veterinary practice (CertAVP) with a focus on small animal medicine and anaesthesia. Her other professional interests include feline medicine, dentistry and geriatrics. When not at work Louise will be found pottering in her greenhouse or trail running along the clifftops of Gower.
Alison Brettell BVSc MRCVS
Alison graduated from Bristol Vet School in 2002 and worked in practices in Devon and West Wales before returning to her roots in Swansea. She has worked with us at Tawe since 2004, although she had a brief sabbatical in Liverpool during 2010 and 2011. She has an interest in surgery and emergency medicine. Outside of work, Alison will often be found enjoying Gower with her mad Spaniels and young family. She has recently expanded her family with the addition of a tortoise called Fred.
Yasmin Channon BVSc MRCVS
Yasmin graduated from the University of Bristol in 2018. She moved to Swansea to start working at Tawe Veterinary Group soon after and has a wide range of clinical interests. In her free time, Yasmin can be found walking on the beach, doing agility with her Collie cross, Finn, running, or riding horses.
Gaia Di Rosa MRCVS
Gaia is one of our new graduate vets. She attended the University of Veterinary Medicine in Italy and joined the team in October 2020. Since then, every day has been an opportunity to improve her knowledge and learning from her experienced colleagues. She loves taking care and protecting our four-legged friends and says there is no better feeling than seeing them improve and feeling well.
Kaitlyn Waidley MRCVS
Kaitlyn graduated in 2021 from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. She moved from the United States to Edinburgh for school, then to Swansea to join the team at Tawe for a new adventure. Kaitlyn is interested in many different clinical fields, where she hopes to expand her knowledge of veterinary medicine in order to make a positive difference in the community and the patients she sees. Outside of work, she likes reading, cooking/baking, hiking, yoga, and traveling.
