Practice standards

RCVS logoTawe Veterinary Group has been inspected and accredited by RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons). Our main site is Sketty has been awarded the Tier 2 (Small Animal General Practice) accreditation, and our Gorseinon branch has met the Core Standards benchmark.

The RCVS Practice Standards Scheme aims to promote and encourage high standards of service, facilities and safety in practice. To achieve RCVS accreditation the practice is inspected every four years and has to meet the strict specified standards.

Areas assessed include:

  • Qualifications and continuing education of staff – all staff must receive adequate training and instruction. Veterinary surgeons and nurses must also continually undertake further training to keep their skills up to date in the rapidly advancing world of veterinary medicine.
  • Clean, hygienic and secure premises.
  • Efficient and accurate patient records.
  • Diagnostic equipment set up and maintained.
  • Laboratory facilities.
  • Hospitalisation and nursing.
  • Surgical.
  • Safe storage and dispensing of medicines.
  • Full compliance with health and safety regulations – for the protection of owners, their animals and the staff.

Being accredited by RCVS gives the practice guidance and support to meet ever changing guidelines and standards, and allows us to offer the best levels of care to both our clients and their pets. Public awareness of the RCVS accreditation helps clients choose a veterinary practice that fulfills their expectations.
